The Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series Switches support optional network modules for uplink ports on some of the configurations. The default switch configuration does not include the network module. When you purchase the switch, you can choose from the network modules available; C9500-NM-2Q or C9500-NM-8X.

The Cisco Catalyst 9500 2 x 40GE Network Module C9500-NM-2Q is a Cisco expansion module plug-in module form factor for Cisco switch that enables uplink ports connection with 40 Gigabit Ethernet data link protocol, 40 Gbps of data transfer rate, and 2 x 40Gb Ethernet – QSFP+ network interface.
